About Us - President’s Bio

Connie Sanders accepted the appointment as the President and CEO of Janus Developmental Services, Inc. November 1, 2007 bringing her extensive 15 years executive leadership experience and a wealth of non-profit knowledge to Janus and to the community. Prior to relocating to Hamilton County, Connie was an Ohio resident where she served as the President and CEO of three non-profit organizations over a period of 15 years. Her accomplishments included:

  • Working with the staff of the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in promoting that national project
  • Implementing the state-wide Homelessness Management Information System
  • As a former member of the Citizens for a Just Cause and the facilitator working on the Cincinnati Collaborative Agreement, Connie was instrumental in bringing the 2001 Cincinnati riots to a halt
  • Connie enlisted the assistance of the First Lady of Ohio (Mrs. Hope Taft) in promoting early childcare and education and meetings with State Senators Blessing and Mallory resulted in funding reform for early childcare programs
  • Connie hosted the unveiling of President Bush’s “Stop Family Violence” postage stamp initiative, addressed the Ohio Senate and worked with State Senator Austria and Representative DeWine on behalf of victims of domestic violence.

Connie finished both her undergraduate degree (Indiana University) and her graduate degree (Ball State University) with highest distinction. Connie is a graduate of the Citizens Policy Academy for Mental Health Professionals and licensed as a Professional Counselor. She is also a recent 2009 graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy. She currently serves on the Noblesville Community Vision for Excellence Workforce Development Council and is a member of the Board of Directors for Central Indiana Regional Workforce Board, Inc.
